New Zealand

Queenstown

The adventure capital of the world. Dramatic mountain ranges, crystal-clear lakes, and landscapes that feel like they belong on another planet.

Why Queenstown

Queenstown is where Adventure Weddings began. Since 2022, Lana has been helping couples from around the world create intimate, unforgettable elopement experiences here — and there's a reason this place draws people from every continent.

Imagine exchanging vows on a mountain peak with nothing but sky above and a glacial lake far below. Or standing in an ancient beech forest so quiet you can hear each other's heartbeat. Or flying by helicopter to a ridge that only a handful of people have ever stood on.

New Zealand makes eloping easy. No residency requirement, minimal paperwork, and some of the most extraordinary landscapes on Earth. And with Lana as your photographer, officiant, and planner, the entire experience is seamlessly personal.

Ceremony Locations

Places We Love

Queenstown has an extraordinary range of ceremony locations. These are our favourites, but we can suggest others based on your style and the season.

Coromandel Peak

Mountain Summit

Helicopter Access

The iconic Queenstown elopement location. A narrow ridge at 1,578m with views of Lake Wanaka below and peaks stretching in every direction. Accessed by helicopter.

Best for: The ultimate dramatic mountaintop ceremony

Cecil Peak

Mountain Summit

Helicopter Access

A sweeping alpine plateau above Lake Wakatipu with panoramic views of the Remarkables and surrounding ranges. Less visited than Coromandel but equally breathtaking.

Best for: Couples who want expansive views and privacy

Glenorchy

Lakeside & Forest

Easy

Where Lake Wakatipu meets the mountains, 45 minutes from Queenstown. Ancient beech forest, crystal water, and the kind of scenery that was used in Lord of the Rings.

Best for: Forest and lakeside ceremonies with mountain backdrop

The Remarkables

Mountain Range

Moderate-Hard

A dramatic mountain range that towers over Queenstown. Multiple ceremony locations from accessible viewpoints to alpine lakes that require guided hiking.

Best for: Couples who want mountain grandeur without a helicopter

Moke Lake

Alpine Lake

Easy

A secluded alpine lake surrounded by tussock-covered hills, 15 minutes from Queenstown. Quiet, intimate, and golden at sunrise.

Best for: Intimate lakeside ceremony, especially at golden hour

Arrowtown

Historic Village

Easy

A charming gold rush village with autumn-coloured trees, stone cottages, and the Arrow River. Gorgeous in autumn (March-May) when the trees turn gold.

Best for: Autumn elopement with golden foliage and village charm

Helicopter elopement

The Queenstown Experience

Helicopter Elopements

Many of Queenstown's most breathtaking ceremony locations are only accessible by helicopter. Landing on a mountain peak with just your partner and your photographer is an experience that's hard to describe — the silence, the scale, the feeling of being genuinely on top of the world.

We work with trusted local helicopter operators and know exactly which peaks offer the best combination of drama, shelter, and light at any time of year. Whether it's Coromandel Peak above Wanaka or Cecil Peak above Queenstown, we'll find the perfect spot for your ceremony.

Good to Know

Best Season

New Zealand's seasons are opposite to the Northern Hemisphere. Summer (December-February) offers the longest days and warmest weather. Autumn (March-May) brings stunning golden foliage, especially in Arrowtown. Winter (June-August) means snow-capped mountains and dramatic skies. Each season has its own character.

Getting Here

Queenstown Airport (ZQN) has direct flights from Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane. International visitors typically fly into Auckland and connect. We can recommend accommodation and help coordinate your travel.

Marriage Requirements

New Zealand requires a Notice of Intended Marriage filed online at least 3 working days before the ceremony. No residency requirement. International couples may need a NZeTA visa waiver. We guide you through every step.

Dual-Hemisphere Advantage

Because we operate in both BC and New Zealand, we can offer elopements year-round. When it's winter in Queenstown, it's summer in Squamish — and vice versa. No off-season.
